The end of yesterday’s devotional will set us up for today. What we commit to doing, God will do. Every promise that written in the Bible belongs to those who believe. Christians have access to the blessing of God without any limitations! Black, white, female or male, we all have equal access to the things of God concerning our lives (Galatians 3:28). The things that set believers apart from the world is their commitment. 

Salvation is a wonderful promise of God’s redeeming love for His children. He gave all He had (Jesus) and sowed Him in the ground (death) so that from that seed, He could produce (His resurrection) many sons and daughters (you and me!). But what must you do to be saved? The Bible says in Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” You must confess and believe! Those are actions to His promise. You must first commit to making God your savior. The difference between a girlfriend and wife is the commitment made at the altar. It’s the same with God. What you commit to doing, God will back. If you commit to serving Him and taking Him at His Word, He’ll see you through it.

All of God’s promises function the same way. If you want to recover from a sickness, James 5:14-15 says, “call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well.” If you want to be financially blessed, Luke 6:38 says “give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.” If you want friends, Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly.”

Did God shoot Himself in the foot when He wrote this Book? No! He created us as free moral agents, not robots. We can come and go as we please. We can make decisions not out of obligation but because we have the choice. Now, you can absolutely make the wrong choice. Most people do. That’s why God said in Deut. 30:19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” See that! God’s rooting for you to make the right decision but you’re the ultimate deciding factor!

Commit to doing what the Word of God says. When you do, the wind of heaven will get behind you and push you to greatest heights you’ve ever been to. HALLELUJAH!
