“What father among you, if his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; or if he asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!”

There’s a lot of misunderstanding when it comes to God. It’s unfortunate because it’s the misunderstanding that allows satan to attack. That’s why it’s so integral for God’s people to understand the Word of God. When we understand who God is we can then come before Him boldly to ask what we want. 

If you’re constantly trying to convince God to come to your aid, there’s a problem. If you think of God as a cruel King waiting to execute His power and wrath on His people, there’s a problem. If you think God has poured out His anger in the form of sickness, poverty or misfortune, there’s a problem. This scripture in Luke 11 doesn’t depict how God is, it illustrates what God ISN’T! 

He isn’t a God who gives you the opposite of what you ask for. He’s a loving God. So loving, in fact, that He makes the contrast of an earthly father. ” If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him! “-Luke 11:13

The greatest love anyone has for you in this world will pale in comparison to the love God has for you. You don’t have to tip-toe around God to ask Him for the things you need as though you were playing a game of Don’t Wake The Dragon. He’s not mad at you. He loves you!

Your prayers will go unanswered if you keep approaching God like that. Don’t you know He gave all He had for you? Don’t you know his wrath was satisfied when Jesus died on the cross? Don’t you know how easy it is to access things through Jesus?! All you have to do is believe that you receive it (faith!) through the name of Jesus and it’s yours! 

Did you have to plead with God to save you? Or did you just receive it? As easy as it was to access salvation through Jesus Christ is as easy as it is to receive healing, wholeness, and breakthrough! Remember, God is a good Father. He’s not mad at you, so approach Him like you would want your own children to approach you when they need something…fear and doubt free!
