Why is God interested in your personal prosperity?

Deuteronomy 8:1-18 “Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors. Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.  Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.  For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell.  Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.

So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him.  For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills.  It is a land of wheat and barley; of grapevines, fig trees, and pomegranates; of olive oil and honey.  It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking. It is a land where iron is as common as stone, and copper is abundant in the hills. When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.

But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful!  Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt.  Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock!  He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good.  He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’  Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.”

Psalm 66:12 “Then you put a leader over us. We went through fire and flood, but you brought us to a place of great abundance.”

That same verse in the King James Version says “Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.”

2 Corinthians 8:9 “You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.”

Read the Bible as if God wrote it to you. God makes the instructions given in His Word very clear. Only religion could sell people on poverty, and make them believe something that comes with so many problems is actually what God desires for His children.

Prosperity belongs to the child of God! That is what the Bible says, very simply. There is a curse for living in sin, and there is a blessing for living in obedience.

God blesses you because he loves you, and then you are a blessing to others because you love Him. You are not a means to an end with God. He loves to see you smile. He loves to bless His children because He loves them.

Why is God interested in your personal prosperity? Here are 7 Biblical Reasons that God wants you to be prosperous in your finances:

ONE. God’s will is for you to enjoy life, not endure life.
The Bible says that it is part of the curse that at night they wish it were morning, and in the morning they wish it were night. People are living a life they hate, to just pay bills and survive, when Jesus said that He came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. (or in all in its fullness) The world is not for the devil’s people. God created the world for His people to enjoy.

TWO. God is interested in your personal prosperity because He desires you to have a stress free marriage.
God created marriage, and the number one of cause of divorce is stress is in the home. The number one cause of stress in the home is a lack of money.

Proverbs 10:15 “The wealth of the rich is their fortress; the poverty of the poor is their destruction.” A rich man’s wealth is his strength, and a poor man’s poverty is his destruction. Poverty is a curse, and poverty creates stress. That is not what God desires for you!

THREE. God is interested in your personal prosperity so that you can provide for your family.

1 Timothy 5:8 “But those who won’t care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.”

Let every man bear his own burden. You’re not going to be a blessing to anyone else until you learn how to take care of your own family. You have to learn to have faith to provide for your own family.

Perhaps something devastating happened in your life. It is possible to be temporarily poor, but with the blessing of God, it is impossible to STAY poor. Even if you’re in a deep hole right now, God has a plan. You will not stay where you’re at right now! There’s a place at the top with your name on it!

1 Samuel 2:8 “He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order.”

FOUR. God is interested in your personal prosperity so you can bless your children.

Proverbs 13:22 “Good people leave an inheritance to their grandchildren, but the sinner’s wealth passes to the godly.”

God doesn’t operate in deficit, God operates in overflow! God wants you to leave an inheritance to your children and your grandchildren! Sin will destroy your money, but the blessing of God multiplies your money! You’re not like everyone else, so stop living like everyone else. Sin is a destroyer, but God said that if you obey Him you will live and multiply in the land.

FIVE. God is interested in your personal prosperity for your personal safety.

Isaiah 32:18 “My people will live in safety, quietly at home. They will be at rest.”

God wants you to live in peace and safety! If you live in poverty, you live in a place that is not safe. Personal prosperity gives you personal safety.

SIX. God is interested in your personal prosperity because it gives you the ability to send your children to a proper school where they are trained to love God.

Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.”

The King James Version says to raise your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Public school education has become state indoctrination. Would you let people who hate you cook your food for you? No! Then why would you let people who hate you, hate your God, and hate your family educate your children?

Personal prosperity gives you the ability to send your children to a school of your choice.

SEVEN. God is interested in your personal prosperity because wealth gives you a place of leadership and influence.

Proverbs 22:7 “Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender.”

The rich rule over the poor. When you become wealthy, you go into a place of rulership. By rejecting wealth, you reject a place of leadership and influence.

The Word of God brings freedom- and that includes freedom from poverty!

EIGHT. God didn’t create anyone with small dreams. To accomplish big dreams, it takes big money.

When you understand God’s prosperity plan, you understand that God is your provider. Your life should be a testimony of how great your God is. There is a God who gives you power to create wealth. You have Christ’s mind, and Abraham’s blessing- so refuse to be small! The world cannot tell you how big to dream when you understand God’s plan of personal prosperity.
