Christianity is not about you needing help. Just look at this “Christian” post that was shared online.

This is not an accurate depiction of what the Word of says concerning the life of a Christian at all!

The Lord is my Shepherd- I shall not lack anything! You anoint my head with oil and my cup overflows!

Psalm 127:1 “Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted.“

God doesn’t teach by destruction, he teaches by instruction.

Proverbs 4:8-12 “If you prize wisdom, she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will honor you. She will place a lovely wreath on your head; she will present you with a beautiful crown. My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.”

Remember when the Bible talks about wisdom here, it is talking about the wisdom of God. Notice the Word of God here promises a “long, good life”- not a “rocky, obstacle course kind of life”. You can stay on a straight path! God will lead you on a straight path.

Proverbs 4:13-19 “Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life. Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers. Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way. Turn away and keep moving. For evil people can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed for the day. They can’t rest until they’ve caused someone to stumble. They eat the food of wickedness and drink the wine of violence! The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over.”

As a Christian, your path shines brighter and brighter! Think of the sun as it rises in the morning. It doesn’t go up and down like a roller coaster in the sky. It rises brighter and higher until it reaches the full light of day, and that’s what the life of a righteous man and woman is like.

You will have what you expect in life. So if you expect your life to go up and down, rollercoaster of hell kind of life- not only will you experience that, but your entire life will just be you fighting your own struggles. And that’s why most Christians aren’t truly able to help anyone else. They expect a hard life, the devil accommodates their bad theology and gives them a hard life, and then all their prayer requests are about them! They have invited attack with how they believe, and they can’t come out of it.

But let’s take the flipside- when you expect from the Bible that your path is to get brighter- it’s a different story! Your life will be according to your faith. You have to expect what God said to be true. If God said your life will get brighter and brighter, than expect that and resist anything that contradicts it. Jesus has already given us the victory!

I don’t struggle. I am redeemed from struggling! I am the head and not the tail, I am above and never beneath!

Proverbs 21:16 “The person who strays from common sense will end up in the company of the dead.”

A Christian who does not understand the Bible, will live a life no different than the life of those who are spiritually dead! That’s what the Scripture means. If you don’t understand the Word of God, than your life will bear no difference between you and the world.

The Gospel is a transforming Gospel! The Bible is not a book to bring you comfort as you go through living a defeated, un-victorious life! The Bible is living power to raise you up to be a champion in life. So stop identifying with the defeated!

When you see yourself among the hurting, you will never stop hurting. When you see yourself as someone that God has put on earth to lift the hurting- then you are leaving American Christianity and entering into Book of Acts Christianity.

Consider Paul after he was shipwrecked. He was an old man, likely in his sixties. Even in those conditions, he was not weak and complaining. He was up chopping wood and building a fire. He was strong. Even then, Paul wasn’t looking for help, he was providing help. After God breaks him out of prison in Acts 16, he does to work converting the jailer. He doesn’t run away. Paul never saw himself in need! (Phil 4:11) Paul refused to identify with need.

The Lord is my Shepherd- I lack nothing! When you speak lack, lack multiplies. When you speak need, need multiplies. WHAT YOU SPEAK- MULTIPLIES.

Learn to do the opposite! “Father, I thank you that I am not in need. I once was in need, but You lifted me out of the pit, and set my feet on the rock to stay. You have lifted me high above, and seated me with Jesus Christ. Far above the struggles of this world where demons or devils could harass me.”

This is where most people miss it. It’s like they live in two worlds. You’re either more than a conqueror or you have need- which is it for you?

I don’t need breakthrough, I carry breakthrough! I don’t need healing, I carry healing! These hands of mine heal the sick! Choose to dominate those things. I am God’s agent on earth, to destroy those things that are sent to destroy people. I am not among those who need delivered, I have been anointed by God to BE a deliverer.

Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world.  You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God:

The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven! The Lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. If you obey the commands of the Lord your God and walk in his ways, the Lord will establish you as his holy people as he swore he would do. Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and they will stand in awe of you. 

The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops. The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. 

If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.  You must not turn away from any of the commands I am giving you today, nor follow after other gods and worship them.”

What does the Word of God say about your life? If you serve God and obey all His commands you will BE BLESSED. Stop expecting problems, and start expecting what the Bible says is yours! EXPECT A MIRACLE TODAY!

A Christian is not supposed to be under attack, a Christian is supposed to be ON the attack. We don’t live in response to the enemy. The Christian is to be on the offensive, not the defensive. Initiate- don’t retaliate! I am plundering the enemy, he is not plundering me!

The Word of God says you will always be the head, and never the tail. It doesn’t say “sometimes” the head and “sometimes” the tail. Know who you are and what belongs to you as a child of God! Get an understanding of what the Word of God says is for your life.

Why American Christianity Doesn’t Work: 

1. They don’t understand that there is something required of them.

Something is required of me as a Christian. God expects something of me. What does he expect?

He expects me to stop sinning, because sin opens the door for the enemy in your life. If you drink and get drunk, you will go to hell. AVOID ALCOHOL completely! Nobody with a brain, no great man or woman of God was ever a drinker. You should be constantly engaging your mind, and not constantly trying to zone out. Don’t have sex with anyone you’re not married to. Don’t go to wild parties where sin is. Who you hang around and where you go and what you choose to put yourself around- it matters! So yes, there IS something that is required of you. Cut sin out of your life! Put iniquity and sin far from you.

James 2:24-26 “So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone. Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road. Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.”

He expects me to produce something. I am not saved by works, but once I get saved, I am commanded to get to work. There are works required of you as a believer!

John 15:1-8 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.  You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.”

Fruitfulness is commanded! The Kingdom of God should be larger after you leave the earth then it was when you arrived.

What causes you to produce fruit?
Joshua 1:7  “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.”

God expects you to be given to the Word of God.  The Word of God will instruct you to be a person who bears fruit. Give your time to the Word of God and let it never depart from your mouth. God expects you to have DAILY time in the Word.

God expects you to give yourself to daily prayer.
Matthew 6:33 “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”

Having a daily prayer life, that is built on your love for God and not a religious obligation, will keep your fire and passion from burning out. Your prayer life should consist of standing in the gap for your generation- not full of your own personal “needs.” If you spend your prayer life seeking first the advancement of the kingdom of God, He will add everything you could ever “need” or want.

What did Solomon do in 1 Kings 3? God gave him a blank check- “Hey Solomon! I’ve received your sacrifices, ask me for anything you want.” And what did Solomon ask for? It was for God’s kingdom! And what did God do? He gave him that. And because Solomon put God’s Kingdom first when he could have asked for anything- he also gave him everything he didn’t ask for. He made him very, very rich! And Solomon wasn’t poor, he was already a wealthy king! God knows all the desires of your heart, and so if you make the kingdom of God your primary concern, He will give you those desires of your heart.

God expects you to win souls.
John 4:34 “Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!

There should be people in your church that are there because YOU led them to the Lord. Soul winning is not an option, it’s a requirement! Make up your mind that before the end of the year, at least ONE person is sitting in your church because YOU led them to the Lord. If you do what God calls you to do, you won’t be stuck in this place of forever begging God for breakthrough. It’s time to get to work! Do what is required of you to loose what’s in His hand for you. 

Your actions of covenant obedience, provoke the hand of God’s blessing!

God expects you to give. 

Luke 6:38 “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

It doesn’t say “if you feel like giving”. Giving is a commandment. You give out of your love and thankfulness to God.

Notice that all of these things that are required of you as a Christian- provoke blessing from God in your life!
